2016-2017 Kindergarten Registration for Neighbourhood Schools & Programs / Schools of Choice


Neighbourhood Schools - Registration Procedure:
WHEN AND WHERE
 Monday, February 1st to Friday, February 5th, 2016 from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm.
 Registration must take place at your neighbourhood elementary school.

REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL MISSION PUBLIC SCHOOLS:
 Children born in 2011 are eligible for Kindergarten.
 Proof of age is required at time of registration: Birth Certificate, Passport, Permanent
Residence Card, Aboriginal Status Card, Baptismal Certificate, Certificate of Citizenship or
Immigration Canada document.
 Note: A Provincial Care Card is not acceptable proof of age
 Proof of residence is also required.
 Note: Driver’s license (the front should display the address, not on the back if there’s
been a change of address), proof of purchase of residence, municipal tax bill, letter
stating current address notarized by a lawyer or notary public, rental agreement
accompanied with a gas bill showing the same address (cable, telephone and hydro bills
are not acceptable).

 École Mission Central – Offering early French Immersion

Schools / Programs of Choice offer differing presentations of educational curriculum. The opportunity to attend Schools / Programs of Choice is open to all Mission residents as these schools have district wide catchment areas.
Kindergarten applications to attend Schools / Programs of choice can be filed at any time, and
for any year of birth, at the Board of Education Office. Please bring your child’s proof of age
documentation:
 Proof of age is required at time of application for Schools / Programs of Choice:
Birth Certificate - Other acceptable documents include: Passport, Permanent Residence
Card, Aboriginal Status Card, Baptismal Certificate, Certificate of Citizenship or Immigration
Canada document.

PLEASE NOTE:
1) Parents with children currently attending a Schools / Programs of Choice:
During the month of December, parents registering a new kindergarten child, and who currently
have a child attending one of our Schools / Programs of Choice, need to register their
kindergarten child at their present school.
See Registration Requirements for ALL SCHOOLS, as they are the same whether you are applying
for a School of Choice or your Regular Catchment area school.

 

Bell Schedule

8:25 a.m. - warning bell will ring and students will need to line up at the outside door of their classroom and wait for their teacher to open the door.

8:30 a.m. - class begins

10:05-10:20 a.m.- recess

11:55 am - 12:35 p.m.- Lunch

12:40 p.m. - class begins

2:21 p.m. - dismissal

 

Ecole Mission Central will continue to offer both English and French Immersion programs next year.

 

Students will be attending the musical Mary Poppins at the Clarke Theatre on Feb 16.

Bus Transportation for 2015-16

Registration for September can be done in person at the School District Office at 33046 Fourth Ave during regular business hours 8:00am - 4:00pm M-F. If you are unavailable during those hours, alternate arrangements can be made by calling 604.826.6286 ext. 3246

 

New Provincial Initiative for Reporting Bullying

The provinicial government has launched a new service in the drive to reduce bullying in British Columbian schools. It is an on-line reporting system. If you or someone you know is experiencing bullying all you need to do is click on the ERASE link. http://www.erasebullying.ca/

École Mission Central Elementary is a dual track school, offering an Early French Immersion program as well as a regular elementary program for grades K - 6. Mission Central is a school that is dynamic, vibrant and engaging, offering a broad range of programs with a skilled, dedicated staff that work hard to meet the needs of all learners.
